Journey To Osm - The Blue Unicorn's Tale Reader Review by Samantha G.

Journey To Osm - The Blue Unicorn's Tale

 Reader Review by Samantha Gregory

Journey to Osm: The Blue Unicorn's Tale by Sybrina Durant is the story of a unicorn called Blue. Before he was born, a prophecy said that he would be the most powerful unicorn born, able to take down their enemies. But when Blue is born, he does not have a proper horn. All the unicorns' horns are metal and his is not. He is a runt and his people have no faith in him as their saviour. No metal, no magic, they say.

I liked the premise for this book. So many heroes start off as less than heroic, but they usually end up proving the doubters wrong. Blue has a hard life, and his species is facing extinction. I really liked Blue as a character. He has a lot on his young shoulders, even if no one does believe he can be of any use to their people. I think that Sybrina Durant has created an enchanting tale with Journey to Osm: The Blue Unicorn's Tale. It is a little hard to place where it would go in the market. A lot of people might think of unicorns as appealing only to a younger reader, but there are more mature themes here that would suit young adult readers. The plot is different and there is a good story here. It would appeal to fantasy fans, and I hope they give it a chance. Unicorns are definitely becoming more popular lately, so I think it could do well. Well worth the read.
